The reason for the zinc ribbon installation is to depreciate the AC current on the HP pipeline. We have installed the zinc ribbon parallel to the pipeline on both sides & at pipe depth. Pipeline was exposed at 20 metre intervals, making sure that the pipeline was supported in 3 metre sections. Arc strike inspections were carried out by the client, if there had been any arc strikes present then a P11 assessment would be carried out, the results of this would determine whether this section of pipeline would require blasting and recoating.

The digging methodology used on this project was a stepped battered excavation, hand digging within 1 metre from the side of the pipeline, due to the project being under SW2 permitry.
